Onah's 4th Birthday Party

We celebrated in hero fashion for
Onah's 4th Birthday!

We pulled out all the costumes from the costume box and invited all his friends from church to come celebrate with us.

Even Spider man himself came! :)
Colten chose to dress as Batman....
With a cape?
And of course, Onah was workin' the
Spidey sense...

 Izzy dressed as Spiderman/Superman/IzzyWoman
 Look out...
Spiderman has hulk's powers
Look at those cheeks...
not sure how she feels about the cape?
 Layton LOVES it!
The girls didn't get too much into it...
they're just waiting for Marie's princess party to come in the fall :)
 Marie climbing up the slide
Then Spiderman showed up and things got a little CRAZY!

I wonder how Spiderman keeps his socks so white?  He must have a "supermom" :)hehe

When Mommy's Away We Play, Play, Play

I briefly posted about Matt's fun with the kids while I was away for the weekend, but here's the full scoop of what the kids did while I was away.

Yes, those are harnesses the kids are wearing....
in my backyard!

You never know what will happen when daddy's in charge of the fun....

A zip-line was created in our backyard!
The kids LOVE it and to them they are sailing high above the ground about a mile, but in actuality, it's about 5 ft. off the ground and between two trees close together...(our yard's not that big!)
Even Izzy got to zip on the zipline
....Never boring here!

Of course since I was gone, Matt had to get the chainsaw out!
But I actually like the end product,....
One over grown tree trimmed back and shaped up!
Looks nice!

So remember I had said the kids created a bird house/feeders all of their own?

Well, here's the cuties painting their creations
I just love Izzy's cheesy smile :)

Stripes for Colten...
His turned out so nice :)

Onah painting...surprisingly I saw no mess from all the paint!  How did that happen?!

Major props to daddy for putting a do-rag on Marie's head to cover her cornrows I worked so hard on!
She looks pretty cute in it too!

Sunday in church I'm sure Colten was in HEAVEN!
Matt had a special speaker come in who attends our church and travels all over the world collecting...
BUGS!
He brought in some creatures and Colten got to hold a Hissing Madagascar something or other?!
(Not a mom thing!)
He couldn't have been happier!

Yes, that is a real tarantula on Matt's face!
I almost screamed just looking at the picture!
Glad I was far from the church when that bad boy was let out!
I think I would have had the natural reaction to squish the poor thing!
YUCK!!!!

 The kids and their birdhouses/feeders

Matt did an excellent job with the kids all weekend, and now I know I can do this more often :)
haha

MAMA GOT A BREAK

So apparently Blogger has changed up their posting format and I'm trying to get used to it, so the pics from my trip won't be in the order I want them but oh, well... :)

So, I got the wonderful opportunity to get away from the house and kids and spend a weekend with some lovely ladies and my Spiritual Dad.

In a nut-shell, results are...filled with Grace and the Holy Spirit, refreshed, rested, joy restored, equipped to be back on the 'battlefield'.

Below are some re-caps of some great moments and some of the things God spoke to my heart.
There are too many to remember, as every time my ears were opened He spoke.
I truly needed this weekend and am so glad I took the opportunity to go.

Chris Tomlin was in concert with Christy Nockels, which is one of my favorite female Christian artists...
After the show I got to meet her!
I talked with her, hugged her, got her autograph of course, and my pic.  Such a sweet personality.
(Group pic with Christy Nockels)

So we arrived before the other group of girls, so we checked us all in.  Could not pass up the opportunity to prank their room!
So we took some pillows...
all of them to be exact, I was pretty excited to have 24 pillows...dream land

 ....and the kids you ask?
Matt had all 4 kids by himself for the first time....
and they all survived!
They built their own bird houses/feeders with daddy.
I really missed these rug-rats while I was gone!

Hiding amongst all the pillows :)

CHRISTY NOCKELS!!!!

Telling her things she already knows...
Her songs are such an encouragement,
and she always brings me to the sweetest
place of worship!

So I noticed our elevator had a name...
OTIS
He was so kind to take us up and down from the 5th floor all weekend!  Never had a discouraging thing to say!...Such a servants heart! :)

This was our Sunday service speaker,
Angela Thomas.
She was such a cute little lady,
North Carolina girl.
She encouraged us to 'be the sonshine'.
But what I loved the most was her message from Genesis about Haggar, and how God found her in the desert when she thought she was invisible to everyone.
I think that's an emotion that all ladies feel, and being reminded of this story was so encouraging to see how God found her, brought her back, and blessed her.
"Lahai Roi" God sees me...
(the name she gives God after being found by Him)

She spoke words, that I felt were coming directly from God speaking straight to my heart.

Her words in her prayer at the end were like an arrow shot through my heart, "help us to love our kids, and not get bogged down by all the little things, because the days are short....they are so short!"

Lysa TerKurst
This one kind of floored me.
She was the first speaker, and wow is she funny.
She spoke a message out of 2 Chronicles 20:3

During the middle of the message she shared about her adoption journey and her two boys she adopted from LIBERIA!  So crazy!

Her message was about giving thanks and praising God in your battles.

Some of her thoughts I took away were....
1. There's power in Jesus' name,
(just speaking His name can bring power)
2. Our job is to follow and obey God, His job is results.
3. Remember who's you are
(this is actually the phrase my dad would use every time we left the house in high school.)
4. "Don't let your happy get bumped" :)

Anita Renfro
She was the comedian that made us laugh until our heads hurt and tears flowed :)
So funny and refreshing!
She's very funny when you meet her in person as well!
We all found a new purpose for the shamwow...
(only for those who God blessed immensely, I'll just keep it at that!)LOL

The other speaker of the weekend was Sheri Rose Shepherd.
She had many thoughts I walked away with as well...
1. Disappointments may be Divine Intervention
2. Do not put a period where God puts a comma.
3. We can make the 'invisible God' visible, by coming out of hiding and sharing God's love.
4. Holding the camera up high when you take your picture helps make your photo very forgiving :) haha

What a great weekend!

I Gotta Wear Shades....

So Marie got these really cute sunglasses at church awhile back. The little ones were content in sharing them until...
Colten broke out his sunglasses (from the mystery place where things get put when you don't play with them for a really long time....still wondering where that place is?)
So then Onah wanted his own sunglasses....
So for his birthday Onah got a new pair of sunglasses....
Iron Man! They were pretty cool!
Well, the next morning was an all out battle!
Everyone had a pair of sunglasses except poor baby,
Izzy!
She screamed and fought over everyone's glasses.
We loaded up the van, went to the store with all the answers....
Wal-Mart and......
Everyone's happy...
INCLUDING MOMMY! :)

Then and Now....

While updating my blog, I was looking back through pictures of last year, and I couldn't help but be amazed at how much my children have changed in LESS THAN A YEAR!
I was blown away the most by the change in Onah and Marie.
Not only have they lost so much of their
"baby faces"
but they look SO much healthier!
You miss the change when you see them everyday, but looking back it's quite amazing to me.....
This is Onah a few days after being home.
Interestingly enough, he just turned 4 and had his check up at the doctor. (which by the way....brave boy didn't cry for his 4 yr. shots!!!)
When I got his growth chart back from the nurse I almost cried!
Not even a year ago this little guy was in the 25th% for weight and about that for height........
NOW! He's the 53rd% for weight......
and the 50th% for height!
Marie after being home a few days.
She looks so much healthier now! She's lost quite a bit of the "baby face" too but look at the difference in her eyes in the next picture!
Okay so the smile helps! But healthy little babes! Love it!
Marie can't wait for her birthday, she says she won't cry when she gets her shots, but the poor thing cried just watching her brother get his! haha.
Mainly they are excited about turning 4 cause I told them they can go to school when they are 4!
And mommy's excited for that too!!!!!

WE'VE BEEN INVADED

Found this guy lurking in our front yard.
He was friendly and apparently wanted to blow bubbles!

Izzy.....I Could Write a Book On Her

She LOVES horses......
"HORTIE.......HORTIE.......HORTIE"
"MOMMY!.......MOMMY!"
Brave until he walks toward her! :)
This is the "Izzy Look" I get it often!
The girl loves her some bubbles!
Carries them with her everywhere!
Thank goodness for spill proof bubbles!
She really loves undressing herself.
One day I arrived in the nursery at church to find her naked.
I asked if she had a bad diaper,.......
nope she just decided she didn't want clothes on!
I have my hands full!!!!!!

COLTENS PUPPET SHOW

While at the Children's Museum, Colten, Cade, and Matt display their amazing acting skills!
